This position is the Triton Rotating Equipment Engineer, requiring a skilled and proactive Engineer to support the integrity, reliability, and performance of rotating mechanical equipment on an ageing Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit operating in the North Sea. This role ensures safe and efficient operations by managing degradation risks, overseeing maintenance strategies, and driving asset life extension initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the offshore operations team for operation, maintenance, and diagnostics of rotating equipment.
- Prepare work in accordance with the Dana activity planning process, adhering to gate criteria and stage‑gate readiness requirements.
- Oversee Performance Standards compliance for Rotating Equipment Containment and Firewater Pumps through maintenance delivery and compliance testing and notify the Mechanical Technical Authority of any deviations.
- Provision of front‑line technical support across the rotating equipment discipline in line with Dana and industry standards.
- Manage rotating equipment maintenance outages ensuring flawless execution against the project plan.
- Consult with Technical Authorities to resolve technical challenges that require in‑depth investigation.
- Support safe and environmentally responsible rotating equipment operation underpinning Dana's License to Operate.
- Identify opportunities for equipment improvements and modifications; raise or respond to Engineering Queries (EQs) to propose changes.
- Identify equipment upgrade projects and support the Management of Change (MoC) process.
- Act as the contract focal point for nominated rotating equipment vendors (Pumps, Diesel Engines, Gas Compressors & Gas Turbines), directing liaison and interface to drive timely reporting, repairs, and product improvements.
- Ensure Corrective Work Orders are captured in CMMS and progressed; support maintenance deferral notifications where required.
- Maintain up‑to‑date machinery condition information, understand equipment health, and schedule relevant remedial actions.
- Monitor and manage equipment condition through the Dana Condition Monitoring contract and online monitoring systems.
- Manage spend on the relevant maintenance budgets and contribute to budget forecasts and annual planning.
- Ensure critical spares and suitable stock levels are identified for all critical rotating equipment.
- Conduct offshore site visits to enhance onshore/offshore collaboration, survey rotating equipment, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis investigations; witness Pump, Diesel Engine, Compressor & Turbine repairs and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) where required; support the Environmental Department for emissions reporting.
- Provide input where required for Verifier surveys and responses to Verifier findings.
- Provide input to HSE inspection plans as required and actions arising as directed by the HSE Advisor.
HSEQ Responsibilities
- Familiarise with Dana Policies, including HSE, Risk Management and Major Hazards, and the One Dana Management System.
- Be aware of all associated risks for People, the Environment, Assets and Reputation (PEAR).
- Understand and comply with roles and responsibilities.
- Fully participate in the Dana Serious About Safety Program and additional HSEQ training or instruction by or on behalf of Dana Petroleum.
- Ensure all safety standards and procedures are strictly followed and report incidents, near misses, hazards and improvement suggestions.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate identified risks, ensuring proper documentation.
- Ensure all operations comply with relevant regulations and standards and that all correspondence is correctly recorded and cascaded.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer with relevant detail design experience and significant operations involvement.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Prior rotating equipment experience, including overhaul scope oversight.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, led by example.
- Commercial awareness.
- Preferably Chartered Engineer and member of a professional engineering institute such as IMechE.
- Awareness of latest technical developments and commitment to maintaining competence through CPD.
