This is an opportunity to join an agricultural commodities trading company growing their London presence; this firm is hiring a Risk Manager.
Job Description
- Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures across the organisation.
- Monitor and assess risk exposures, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards.
- Provide expert advice to senior leadership on risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with various departments to integrate risk management into business processes.
- Prepare detailed risk assessment reports and present findings to stakeholders.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and ensure compliance within the risk and compliance framework.
- Conduct periodic reviews and audits to identify and address potential risks.
- Deliver training and guidance to staff on best practices in risk management.
- Ensure compliance with international regulatory standards and local laws, especially in Africa and other key trading regions.
- Build internal procedures that balance compliance and control with commercial flexibility and sustainable business practices.
- Serve as the key advisor to senior leadership on enterprise risk, regulatory developments, and emerging risks in commodity markets.
- Collaborate with trading, operations, finance, legal, and compliance teams to embed risk controls in day-to-day operations.
The Successful Applicant
- Bachelors degree.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., RIM, PRM, FRM, CISI) etc.
- Significant experience in risk management within commodities trading, with a strong focus on agricultural commodities.
- Proven expertise in governance, regulatory compliance, and internal control frameworks in a trading environment.
- Strong knowledge of international trading practices, compliance standards (e.g., AML, KYC, sanctions), and regulatory frameworks relevant to commodities.
- Background in social sciences (e.g., economics, international relations, political science) preferred; accounting/finance experience is a plus but not essential.
- Deep understanding of the African trading landscape and associated risk environments.
- Demonstrated ability to develop practical, business-oriented procedures that promote control while enabling commercial growth.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including working with multicultural and cross-functional teams.
- Experience with enterprise risk management tools or systems is advantageous.
