Time Type: Full time; Worker Type: Employee. The purpose of this role is to provide strategic and tactical leadership to drive the placement of outward Reinsurance programs.

Retrocession Placement Manager – Reinsurance

London, Full-Time

We are seeking an individual to join us as a Retrocession Placement Manager within our Reinsurance business. In this high-impact role, across our Casualty (including Cyber) and Specialty portfolios, ensuring alignment with underwriting goals, regulatory standards and operational excellence.

You’ll report into and collaborate with the Head of Ceded Reinsurance to build strong market relationships and help shape portfolio performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage reinsurance placements for Casualty (including Cyber) and Specialty portfolios
  • Collaborate with and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (product portfolio and regional leaders, internal departments such as Group Ceded Reinsurance & business partners) and external stakeholders (brokers and reinsurers)
  • S ource, compile and provide an initial review of submission data, draft narratives , presentations and manage placement communications
  • Support underwriting strategies with tailored reinsurance solutions
  • Influence the portfolio review and analysis to identify ways to support new business development opportunities
  • Participate in strategic meetings to share insights, develop best practices and contribute to business planning
  • Identify and suggest improvements to renewal information collection processes
  • Act as a liaison between pre and post placement operational activities, providing oversight to:
    • Ensure accurate entries in policy admin, ceded re and management information systems are made and ensure data integrity
    • Review and support credit control in payment collection and monitor reinsurance recoverables
    • Manage process to ensure contract certainty documentation complies with internal and external regulations
About You
  • Demonstrable experience within Reinsurance placement, with a strong focus on treaty placements
  • Extensive experience with Casualty or Specialty lines of business, including an in-depth understanding of market conditions and cycles
  • Significant experience with retrocession is preferred
  • Proven leadership and people management experience with strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation abilities
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel with strong numeracy, literacy and analytical thinking skills
  • A solid understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks (including FSA/Lloyd’s), contract certainty and compliance
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with the Cyber line of business is desirable
