A local government organization in Penrith is seeking an Education Program Developer to facilitate waste management education initiatives for the community. This role involves developing programs for residents, schools, and businesses, focusing on waste avoidance and resource recovery. Ideal candidates will hold a qualification in Environmental Science Education, possess strong communication skills, and have experience in educational material production. The salary ranges from $92,765 to $107,380 plus superannuation.

Penrith is a recognised leader in sustainable waste management and we are committed to actively supporting our community to reduce waste sent to landfill through reducing, reusing, recycling and generally disposing of waste responsibly. As part of the Waste and Resource Recovery team you will work with a team of dedicated, innovative and award‑winning professionals who provide waste and recycling services, waste planning and promote waste avoidance and resource recovery within our City.
This position develops and implements education programs (in conjunction with Council’s waste collection and processing contractors) for residents, schools, community groups, businesses and Council staff relevant to domestic and commercial waste collection services, waste processing and disposal services, and waste avoidance and resource recovery practices.
This role is temporary full‑time with part‑time job‑sharing arrangements being considered for suitable applicants.
Salary: The salary for this position ranges from $92,765 – $107,380 per annum plus 12% Superannuation and will be negotiated commensurate with the skills, qualifications and experience of the preferred applicant.
You will be required to undertake employment checks which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and / or a Functional Test as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council for review in order to progress through the recruitment process.
