A leading therapeutic agency is seeking a part-time Residential Therapeutic Practitioner in Cottingham to support staff teams in guiding children affected by trauma. Residential Therapeutic Practitioner (Part-Time) role supporting and guiding staff teams in therapeutic practice between Therapeutic Services and Residential children’s homes. Compass Community is an independent therapeutic agency caring for nearly 2,000 children and young people through Fostering, Residential Homes and Education, focusing on social, emotional, cognitive and sensorial needs. Therapeutic Services has an embedded record of the Assessing and Healing Complex Trauma (AHCT) approach and is seeking an enthusiastic practitioner with a background in trauma, attachment and loss, and experience supporting children and young people in the care sector. You will ideally be based in or around Hull. This is a part-time role.
About The Role
You will be a key participant in the Assessing and Healing components for helping traumatised young people. You will be part of the multi-disciplinary Therapeutic Service and work directly with the Residential Service. You will have opportunities to discuss and reflect on your work with colleagues in other regions to develop and maintain the therapeutic ethos, and you will train staff in therapeutic ideologies, develop therapeutic understanding and facilitate therapeutic reflective groups with carers and managers. You will support the Social and Emotional Welfare (SEW) Assessment on all young people, guide staff in professional therapeutic development, and have a strong understanding of Complex Trauma presentations. You will help staff and carers recognise the impact of trauma on child development and promote a therapeutic philosophy within Children’s services. You will ensure the service operates in line with Government legislation, regulations and standards, and uphold Compass Children’s Homes Vision and Values with anti-discriminatory practice. Where applicable, you will be involved in developing the therapeutic community within the Community of Community programme under guidance of the Royal College of Psychiatry in London. Working hours are 4 days 09:00-17:00 and one shift of 12:00-20:00 during the week.
