Overview

Role: Team Leader – Residential Children’s Homes

Company: Beaufort Care Group

Location: West End, Southampton, SO30

Salary: Circa £34,000 per annum, inclusive of enhancements

Hours: 37 hours per week, plus 10 sleep-in shifts per month and overtime opportunities

Roster: 3 week rolling roster to include some weekends and Bank holidays

About the Role

As a Team Leader in our children’s homes, you will perform a vital role in our children’s lives, working as part of a team, and being a responsible, trusted ‘parent figure’ for looked-after children. In addition, you will be a role-model to the team, providing mentorship and leading the shift.

Responsibilities
  • Safeguarding children and building strong, positive relationships with children who have experienced traumatic, abusive and difficult backgrounds
  • Supporting their educational and emotional development, helping them to heal and thrive
  • Planning and co-ordinating engaging, fun activities, encouraging the children’s preferences and leisure interests
  • Providing a structured, safe, well-maintained, and comfortable home environment
  • Following regulatory processes which includes good administration, care planning and daily record keeping
  • Supporting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager with regulatory processes, ensuring the home is well led and ready for Ofsted inspection
About You
  • Qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 / 4 in Children, Young People and Families Practitioner (or equivalent)
  • At least one year’s experience within the residential children’s home sector
  • Dedicated to child safeguarding and child welfare
  • Empathetic and effective communicators, able to form trusted, meaningful relationships with children
  • Passionate about making a positive difference in children’s welfare
  • Resilient and patient, capable of handling challenging behaviours
  • Proactive and creative in activity planning
  • Capable of practical ‘life skills’ including cooking, cleaning and good home management
  • Detail-oriented and competent users of IT, to ensure that every child’s needs are met and documented in line with regulatory expectations and standards

Essential must haves

  • A valid UK driving licence and proximity to West End, Southampton. A relevant qualification and experience in the residential childcare sector.
