• Over 5 years of post-graduate experience in Paediatrics, including PICU.
• Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH).
• ALS certification with competency in emergency paediatric ICU situations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ward rounds and manage patient care daily.
• Respond to emergencies as part of the Paediatric Emergency Response Team.
• Support two PICU Consultant teams in medical and surgical care.
• Manage pre- and post-operative care for congenital cardiac surgery cases.

About the Role As a Resident Doctor in PICU, you’ll play a vital role in caring for critically ill children, from neonates through to 18 years, across a diverse caseload. This includes complex medical conditions, high-dependency care, and post-surgical recovery.

You’ll be part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, providing intensive care in our 9-bed PICU and 5-bed HDU, and your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting ward rounds and delivering day-to-day patient management
• Responding to emergencies as part of the Paediatric Emergency Response Team (airway management, intubation, chest drains)
• Supporting two PICU Consultant teams (Medical & Surgical)
• Managing pre- and post-operative care, including congenital cardiac surgery cases
• Engaging in audits, projects, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives

What We’re Looking For

• GMC registration with completion of Foundation training
• Minimum 5years’ post-graduate experience in Paediatrics, including PICU
• MRCPCH – Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health
• ALS certification with proven competency in emergency paediatric ICU presentations (airway management, stabilisation, critical care interventions)
