About the Job

The Research Tutor supports the trainees and staff to undertake research in health innovation, interdisciplinary and community engagement; and in advancing inclusive, equitable, and anti‑discriminatory research in clinical psychology.

  • Provide teaching across the course, on research and related activities, including evidence‑based practice, research appraisal, literature search/review, design, methods, and analysis.
  • Undertake research supervision for trainees, providing guidance on topic area, methods, analysis, and evaluation; and the internal examination and chairing of thesis vivas.
  • Contribute to our systems for the ethical review, governance, and approval for research activities and thesis topics, including reviewing applications on behalf of the ethics committee.
  • Identify research topics and supervisors for the thesis, and assist with the allocation of trainees to the projects, including proposal development and registration.
  • Support the course staff in developing skills and competencies in research, research supervision, and examination; and building research capacity within the team.
  • Engage in research, scholarship, and professional practice to inform teaching and research supervision; working in accordance with UEL equality and diversity policies.
About You

The post‑holder will have a PhD or professional doctorate in psychology (or a related area) and post‑doctoral research experience. You will have experience of teaching, supervising, and examining research at postgraduate level; and contributing to research in the areas of health, healthcare, and/or social care. You will be familiar with the range of qualitative and quantitative research methods, and the ethical issues relevant to research with human participants, particularly in health and social care. You will be committed to the integration of EDI, service user and carer involvement, and culturally competent practice in research.
