Job description
The role

This role works proactively with the Faculty Business Manager for the Faculty of Science, Business and Enterprise - to provide a high-quality support service to the Associate Dean for Research and Innovation in relation to the implementation and delivery of the University’s Research and Knowledge Exchange Strategy at Faculty level, and Faculty PGR activity which helps deliver high-quality programmes and education for our students.

You will be based in our professional services offices on the Queens Park campus in Chester city centre.

You will
  • Develop and maintain a broad understanding of the research and knowledge exchange (RKE) and postgraduate research (PGR) ambitions of the Faculty, working closely with the Faculty Business Manager, and attending relevant meetings, committees and working groups, including those with the Research and Innovation Office.
  • Lead and oversee the Faculty Research and Innovation Officers in your team to ensure the efficient delivery and consistency of RKE and PGR processes. Lead and develop direct reports, providing coaching, feedback, clear objectives and undertaking appraisals (PDPs). Ensure they are motivated and appropriately trained to carry out their responsibilities to the required standards.
  • Provide operational support to the Faculty Business Manager with a range of tasks relating to research and knowledge exchange, and postgraduate research processes.
  • Be a point of contact for colleagues and students in relation to PGR and RKE, dealing with and responding effectively to queries or requests for information from within the Faculty and from centralised professional services functions.
  • Lead on streamlining and developing efficient processes in relation to the RKE and PGR function.
