Job description

Vacancies have arisen for Catering Assistants within the authority’s Clydebank area. Preference of location will be discussed at the interview.

The post holder will assist in the day-to-day operational requirements of the catering service within this premise. The successful candidate should be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities include assisting in basic food preparation and service of all foods in compliance with the Nutritional Requirements for Food and Drinks in schools (Scotland) regulations 2008, adhering to relevant legislation, and setting up/clearing away equipment for food service. The post holder’s duties also include maintaining high standards of cleanliness, including crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils, kitchen and dining areas, staff rest room, and toilets.

Applicants must hold an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent qualification, which is an essential requirement.

The post holder will need to adhere to Food Safety Systems, Safe Systems of Work, and Health and Safety Legislation. Knowledge of these legislations and previous experience in similar roles would be advantageous.

Requirements

This position is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020. Membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the PVG scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check before a formal offer is made.
