How does this role contribute to our collective success?

The Underwriting Assistant provides essential support primary to the Casualty team and other underwriting teams depending on the business need, facilitating both renewal and new business activities. This role works in close collaboration with underwriters, providing essential support throughout the entire underwriting process. The Underwriting Assistant is actively involved in preparing, reviewing, and processing submissions, ensuring data accuracy, and maintaining system integrity. By being embedded in the workflow, the UA contributes directly to underwriting outcomes and helps streamline operations, enabling underwriters to focus on strategic decision‑making and client engagement. This position is integral to maintaining data accuracy, operational efficiency, and client service excellence.

What will you do in this role?

Submission & Data Entry: Accurately and promptly input premium, conditions, endorsements, quotes, and renewal data into relevant systems. Administer submission documentation and support underwriters throughout the process. Perform quality control to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Portfolio Support: Assist underwriters in managing their portfolios, including tracking performance and renewal activities. Prepare underwriting worksheets.

Document Preparation: Compare treaty wordings and endorsement language, validate wording changes. Prepare final documents for signature and distribution.

File Management: Maintain and organize underwriting filing systems, ensuring completeness and accessibility of records.

Meeting Participation and preparation: Take part in internal (referral, cross functional teams) and broker/client meetings to support underwriting discussions. Documentation preparation (meeting notes/conference briefing notes).

Operational Support: Assist with month‑end close procedures, support auditors with required documentation and evidence for system entries, participate in team projects.

You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities, and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for maintaining internal and external relationships.
  • Accurate, diligent, and flexible working style
  • Proficiency in MS Office and general IT aptitude.
  • Motivated to enhance skills, reinsurance expertise and contribute to process improvements.
  • Negotiation skills are an advantage.
What we prefer you to have:
  • High school diploma; university degree or industry‑related certification e.g. CII is advantageous.
  • At least two years of experience in the reinsurance industry.
Role Factors:

To foster effective collaboration with underwriters and the broader team, the Underwriting Assistant is expected to be in the office at least three days per week. This presence supports real‑time communication, efficient workflow integration, and active participation in underwriting activities.
