Job description

Band 8 Senior Psychologist based at HMP Northumberland. The NE&Y psychology team provides a psychology service to HMP Northumberland, a privately managed prison. The post holder will be involved in the oversight of psychology provision to Northumberland, monitoring and supporting delivery of agreed services, and working closely with the senior leadership team. The role is integrated within the wider NE&Y psychology team, with opportunities to support trainee psychologists, assessment, intervention, training, research and consultancy tasks. Work may also be allocated in other prisons across NE&Y and the community.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the psychology provision to Northumberland
  • Monitor and support delivery of agreed services
  • Maintain good working relationships with Northumberland senior leadership team
  • Support development of trainee psychologists
  • Provide assessment, intervention, training, research and consultancy tasks
  • Allocate work across other NE&Y prisons and community settings as required
  • Participate in hybrid working arrangements as appropriate
Qualifications
  • HCPC registered Forensic Psychologist
  • Completed professional background in Psychology
  • Experience in providing clinical supervision
  • Completed training in effective models of treatment and best practice
  • Likely to be a Chartered Psychologist and full member of the appropriate division of the BPS if required
  • At least two years of post‑registration experience
