Job description
Community Mental Health Team – RMN – East Lancashire – Pennine

Based at Ballenden House, Rawtenstall in the beautiful Rossendale Valley. This part‑time Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse role requires 22.5 hours per week.

This role is part of the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team. The team is multidisciplinary and works across community services for older adults, including those with dementia.

Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment and treatment to service users with a variety of mental health conditions within the community.
  • Deliver high-quality secondary services to older adults with severe and enduring mental health problems.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines, team policies and procedures.
  • Deliver secondary mental health services in accordance with NICE guidelines and agreed activity levels, meeting Key Performance Indicators.
  • Provide advice and consultation on clients’ care to clinicians and non-professional carers.
  • Manage personal or clinical care for male service users where this may not be appropriate for female staff.
  • Manage risk, liaise and communicate effectively with teams and stakeholders.
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to band 4 or 3 staff and support student allocations and activity.
  • Participate in a robust supervision and personal development structure (service manager, in-house and external opportunities).
Qualifications & Experience

Potential candidates need to have relevant older‑adult or adult mental-health community experience and proven clinical skills within community mental health services. Excellent clinical skills, knowledge of older‑adult care, and a positive attitude to care delivery are essential. Familiarity with transformation work (CPA to Dialog+) and crisis/care planning models and initiatives is desirable. A working knowledge of current national and local drivers is required. Candidates should demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and the ability to manage the demands of a busy community team.
