Qualifications

Overview

An opportunity to join our client's growing Belfast operation. A CPC qualified transport expert required.

Our client is a leading FMCG logistics provider.

Reporting into the site General Manager, the Regional Transport Manager will have responsibility for a large-scale transport operation and an associated cross dock site. Based in Belfast, the role will be responsible for a team of c110 colleagues across the distribution teams and will play a key part in the site growth and the overall customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Full accountability and responsibility for the performance of the transport department, including achieving auditable standards.
  • Ensuring that all Service Level Agreements (SLA's) are met.
  • Monitoring key performance indicators and ensuring they are achieved through effective management of direct reports, focusing on service, costs, compliance and engagement.
  • Contributing to, planning and executing the day-to-day operational strategy.
  • Ensuring that housekeeping standards and safe systems of work are met and maintained in line with Health & Safety at Work Regulations and local standards in line with the company Health & Safety policy.
  • Recruiting, developing and managing direct reports to support the delivery of the business KPI's.
  • Identifying opportunities and implementing initiatives for continuous improvements in ways of working, quality, consistency and effectiveness of process.
  • Developing all colleagues through appropriate interventions, such as probationary reviews, appraisals and PDP's in order to drive high performing individuals and teams.
  • Adhering to performance and absence management processes to ensure under performance of individuals and teams is managed appropriately.
  • Collaborating with other business functions to build alignment and deliver overall business results.
  • Managing all employee relations issues in line with company policy and legal requirements.
Qualifications
  • Managerial and leadership experience within a similar size FMCG, 3PL or retail logistics operation (teams >100).
  • Current International CPC and Operators Licence holder.
  • A natural leader and people motivator, ensuring optimum productivity is achieved, whilst always looking for areas to improve and enhance.
  • Leadership experience within a regulated environment encompassing driver hours and tachograph legislation.
  • Experience of managing teams with a unionised environment.
  • Proven working knowledge of Health & Safety and legal requirements within a distribution environment.
  • Experience of working within a set budgetary and performance targeted workplace.
  • Able to clearly communicate at all levels (direct and indirect reports), whilst delegating to the appropriate level.
  • Demonstrate experience of mobilising and managing change in people and processes.
  • Ability to interpret data and effectively apply outcome to the needs of the business.
