Job description

The Production Manager for the Far North region (Iowa & Minnesota)is responsible for centrally managing all aspects of production, job execution, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination. This role is critical to maintaining profitability, auditing costs, controlling materials/labor spend, and ensuring every project is built to Apple Roofing standards.

The Production Manager serves as the primary point of contact for internal teams, subcontractors, field crews, and suppliers throughout the build process. This position requires strong organizational skills, a sense of urgency, and the ability to proactively manage budgets, schedules, and crews to ensure efficient, high-quality project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the regional production calendar for roofing, windows, gutters, siding, and repairs, as well as any additional market trades.
  • Schedule projects based on job readiness, material availability, and crew capacity.
  • Order materials and coordinate on‑time deliveries with suppliers.
  • Confirm all permits are pulled, and job folders are complete prior to build.
  • Assign subcontractor crews based on trade, skill set, and availability.
  • Coordinate final inspections with job superintendents and city officials.
  • Schedule repairs, punch list work, and warranty callbacks.
Supplier & Subcontractor Management
  • Build and enter all material and labor orders into internal systems.
  • Communicate job details, expectations, and timelines to crews.
  • Review subcontractor performance and verify adherence to scope of work.
  • Ensure completion and submission of required jobsite photos and documentation.
  • Onboard new subcontractors as needed to support regional capacity.
  • Maintain positive, accountable relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
Invoice Review, Financial Controls & Profitability
  • Review and audit invoices for accurate pricing and alignment with completed work.
  • Identify overbilling, unauthorized charges, or discrepancies.
  • Submit supplier credit requests and subcontractor backcharges when appropriate.
  • Forecast job profitability and support ongoing regional margin improvement.
  • Maintain accountability for cost control – bonus structure tied to profitability.
Jobsite Oversight & Field Support
  • Perform spot checks and in‑progress inspections to ensure workmanship meets standards.
  • Coordinate with field techs and job superintendents to address jobsite needs or delays.
  • Support resolution of punch list items and warranty‑related work.
  • Serve as the operational liaison between crews and internal staff during active jobs.
Customer Experience & Internal Communication
  • Provide timely updates to sales reps and internal teams on job status, scheduling, and completion.
  • Support communication with homeowners or property managers when necessary.
  • Ensure a clean jobsite experience and minimal disruption during construction.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate job records including schedules, change orders, photos, and documentation.
  • Update CRM and production tracking systems with current job notes and statuses.
  • Support permit tracking, warranty submissions, and close‑out documentation.
  • Ensure that all production data is accurate, timely, and compliant with company processes.
Required
  • 2–3+ years of experience in construction, roofing, logistics, or project management.
  • Strong knowledge of construction workflows, jobsite coordination, or logistics operations.
  • Experience managing subcontractor crews and job site timelines.
  • Ability to schedule labor and materials efficiently and accurately.
  • Strong organizational discipline and a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work full‑time, in‑office.
Preferred
  • Experience with residential roofing systems.
  • Familiarity with Iowa/Minnesota regional permitting or inspection processes.
  • Background in logistics, procurement, or operations management.
  • Experience reviewing invoices or performing cost auditing.
