Qualifications

  • Proven experience in refrigeration and/or air conditioning service engineering.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning or equivalent.
  • F-Gas Category 1 qualification.
  • Strong fault-finding skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out service, maintenance and repair works on commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
  • Diagnose faults and propose effective solutions.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Participate in the on-call rota and respond to reactive calls.

Role : Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineer

Location : Swindon / Reading / Gloucester / Bristol

Salary : Up to £45,000 / 40 hours / Door to door/ 33 days holiday / 1 in 5 weekends / Van – not tracked

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineer to join our team in the South West.

We are a respected, long-established building services organisation who specialise in the commercial refrigeration and catering industry. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their craft, values long-term customer relationships, and enjoys working within a supportive and traditional company environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out service, maintenance and repair works on a range of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems. (Coldrooms, Ice Machines, Bottle coolers, display units, VRV, VRF, Splits)
  • Diagnose faults and propose effective solutions.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Participate in the on-call rota and respond to reactive calls as scheduled.
  • Maintain accurate job records using company-issued phone or tablet (no tracking enabled).
  • Visit the office as required to collect parts, restock vans, or unload equipment.
Hours & Working Pattern
  • Contracted Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Typical Day: 8:00am – 5:00pm with a 1-hour lunch break
  • Lunch Pay: If you work a 9-hour day, you will receive pay for the lunch hour at your normal rate
  • Travel Time: Fully door-to-door
  • On-Call Rota:
    • 1 weekday per week
    • 1 weekend in every 5

Requirements
Essential
  • Proven experience in refrigeration and/or air conditioning service engineering
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (or equivalent)
  • F-Gas Category 1 qualification
  • Strong fault-finding skills
  • Full UK driving licenceGood communication and customer-facing skills
Desirable
  • Experience with commercial sites (retail, hospitality, industrial, etc.)
  • Additional manufacturer or specialist training
  • Electrical qualification (beneficial but not essential)
