Job summary

A leading law firm in the East Midlands is seeking a Receptionist/Legal Secretary to join their Crime Department in Derby. The role includes professionally managing incoming calls, attending office visitors as well as providing essential administrative support to caseworkers. Ideal candidates should exhibit excellent communication skills, strong organizational capability, and understand the importance of maintaining client confidentiality. Standard office hours are Monday to Friday from 9am to 5:30pm.

Qualifications

  • Experience in reception and administrative roles preferred.
  • Must maintain client confidentiality and legal privilege.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities required.

Bhatia Best are a leading firm based in the East Midlands who specialise in Criminal Defence, Family Law, Personal Injury, Public Law and Community Care.

We have an exciting opportunity for a receptionist/ legal secretary to join our Crime Department at our busy Derby office.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Receive and transfer incoming phone calls in a polite, efficient and courteous manner.
  2. To greet and attend all office visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  3. Undertake all reception duties relevant to staff, clients and visitors.
  4. To provide secretarial and administrative support to caseworkers.
  1. Operate the company’s telephone system.
  2. Maintain and record the company’s “in/out staff log”.
  3. Typing/word processing per dictation from caseworkers.
  4. Maintenance of the company’s case management systems and electronic file records.
  5. Arranging and recording appointments and prison visits within diary systems.
  6. Telephone interaction with clients and others.
  7. Back up secretarial support to other Departments/Caseworkers.
  8. Engage and disengage the company’s emergency divert systems.
  9. Ensure compliance with SQM and internal systems.
  10. File opening upon the company’s case management systems.
  11. Offer guidance and support to Office Assistants with supervision as necessary.
  12. Secure office entrance/front desk at close of business.
  13. Comply with the company’s Office Manual.
  14. Assist in the training of new recruits.
  15. Maintain client confidentiality and legal professional privilege.

Please note office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am - 5.30pm with one hour for lunch.
