Job description
Company Description

Palé Hall, a five red star destination country house hotel set within the outstanding landscape of Snowdonia, is seeking a polished, confident and articulate Receptionist to join its Front of House team. With significant growth and investment planned across the Estate in the coming months, this is an exciting time to become part of Palé Hall.

Our Receptionists are the first point of contact for our guests and play a vital role in delivering a seamless and memorable experience. From welcoming guests on arrival to managing all aspects of their stay, the reception team represents the standards and values of Palé Hall at all times. We are now strengthening the team with an additional full-time colleague, working five eight-hour shifts per week.

This role is ideally suited to an individual who enjoys a customer‑facing environment, has previous hospitality experience, and demonstrates exceptional attention to detail. The Front of House department operates two reception shifts per day between 7.00am and 11.00pm, and flexibility is essential to cover early and late shifts, including weekends.

Key requirements include immaculate personal presentation, strong interpersonal skills, confidence in engaging with guests, and competent IT skills. A minimum of one year’s experience in a similar hospitality role is preferred. The successful candidate must be able to commute independently in line with shift patterns.

Duties will include coordinating effectively with other departments; completing check‑in and check‑out procedures; managing cash and card payments during shifts; and undertaking general reception and administrative responsibilities as required.

Palé Hall is the only AA Five Red Star hotel in Wales, holding AA Three Rosettes and the Michelin Green Star for food sustainability. The hotel offers 22 individually designed bedrooms, suites and Garden Suites, alongside the Henry Robertson fine dining restaurant.

We place great value on our people and are committed to making Palé Hall a rewarding and fulfilling place to work. In return, we offer a competitive salary of £26,000 per annum, onsite parking, complimentary meals on duty, generous hotel discounts and monthly gratuities.

Applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK and be confident in their ability to commute to the hotel in accordance with shift requirements.

Job Description
  • To deliver the all-important positive first impression to arriving guests with a warm and friendly greeting, organising the transfer of luggage and the guest comfort.
  • To interact with resident and non resident guests in a professional, friendly and confident manner.
  • To maintain the highest standards of personal presentation and grooming at all times, dressed in the uniform as provided and to the correct specification.
  • To be a front of house presence for hotel guests and employees when on duty.
  • To ensure a thorough and up to date knowledge of the hotel and its services, packages, rates and menu prices at all times.
  • To communicate promptly and accurately with all departments and management to ensure that guest requirements and expectations are met.
  • To follow the duties of the reception shift as laid out within the key tasks/departmental procedures, including guest accounting functions in accordance with company policy.
  • To prepare guest accounts and give a warm and cheerful departure/check‑out service, ensuring that accounts are settled prior to departure and assistance is offered with luggage and car retrieval. To deliver a service that will leave departing guests with a positive overall experience of their stay, encouraging them to recommend and return.
  • To be responsible for all cash and card transactions during the shift, being fully aware of the cash handling procedures and the banking procedure at the end of each shift.
  • To handle accommodation, restaurant and private dining reservations to the correct standard, communicating with other departments as necessary.
  • To deliver a comprehensive handover to the following shift or Night Porter.
