Working as part of a dedicated team, the Assistant will actively work alongside individuals to improve and maintain their daily living skills, meet physical and emotional needs as defined in care plans, and facilitate their ability to live independently, thus minimising the need for long-term care interventions. Responsibilities
  • To meet the physical, social, and emotional needs of service users as agreed in their individual care or support plan.
  • To actively work with individuals to improve and maintain daily living skills (often referred to as Activities of Daily Living – ADLs), using appropriate specialist equipment whenever required.
  • To liaise and work alongside other professionals (such as Occupational Therapists or Nurses) to minimise risk, ensure continuity of care, and enable individuals to remain safely in their own homes.
  • To ensure that all work functions are undertaken in accordance with health and safety legislation, codes of practice, the City Council’s safety plan, Standing Orders, and Financial Regulations.
  • To carry out all duties in accordance with the City Council's policies and procedures, including the promotion of anti-discriminatory practice and equal opportunities.
Essentials
  • Demonstrable competency in literacy and numeracy (e.g., GCSE or equivalent vocational experience).
  • Previous experience in a care, support, or reablement setting, either formally or informally.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults, promoting their independence, and assisting with daily living tasks.
  • A clear understanding and commitment to the principles of reablement and restorative care.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults procedures and the ability to report concerns effectively.
