A prominent healthcare trust in Dudley is seeking a Distribution Operative to manage the delivery and collection of goods within the Trust. The role involves manual handling, good communication skills, and a strong commitment to safety protocols. The ideal candidate should have GCSE qualifications in English and Maths, experience in a distribution environment, and a proactive attitude. To undertake all operational work associated with the successful distribution of goods received through the Receipts and Distribution Point in accordance with the Procurement Department's procedures and policies and the Trust's Procurement Strategy. In carrying out these tasks operatives must regularly work unsupervised to deliver an optimum level of service to user departments.

To deliver & collect goods throughout the Trust, primarily using roll cages to support transit. This may include the use of trolleys, pallet trucks and mechanical aids.
This is a very manual job role requiring cage movement, lifting, moving and handling heavy loads, adhering to H & S requirements.
The ability to sort goods in an organised manner for onward delivery.
Good administration skills to ensure all essential records are stored for audit purposes including required proof of delivery paperwork that is fully completed and signed. These can manual or digital records.
Collection of empty cages from around the site.
Have strong team working skills to assist colleagues as necessary to support capacity.
Good communications skills with differing contacts e.g. delivery drivers, Trust personnel etc. to aid resolving queries.

1. Deliver goods throughout Trust, primarily using roll cages to support transit
2. Ensure that empty roll cages are brought back appropriately, folded and stored on the loading bay meeting H & S requirements
3. Support delivery of items to off-site areas as required, working with Transport
4. Ensure that proof of delivery paperwork is completed in its entirety and signed
5. Collecting empty roll cages from the main hospital street and all corridors in order to maintain clear corridor pathways
6. Collection of returns from departments as required
7. Support the putting away of stock only as directed by Materials Management operatives to support capacity
8. Cover warehouse desk on occasion in a limited capacity to support breaks
9. Liaise with suppliers and couriers as required regarding deliveries and issues
10. Liaise with Trust colleagues to resolve issues raised with deliveries or redirect other queries as appropriate
11. Reporting any issues with stock or shortages to departments as required
12. To action all associated documentation, carry out clerical work and maintain all essential records as directed.
13. Operate mechanical handling aids and equipment, reporting any defects or deficiencies promptly.
14. Work in a tidy manner, keeping all working areas clean and tidy, including the loading bay.
15. As directed carry out stock-taking duties, reporting any discrepancies and assisting with subsequent investigation.
16. Assist in maintaining high standards of security within the Receipts and Distribution Point both in terms of staff and goods.
17. To distribute stock and non-stock items around Trust sites, using both manual and electrically powered handling equipment.
18. Participate in all mandatory and other appropriate training sessions arranged.
19. Perform help desk duties and handle relevant enquiries.
20. Operate within the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Professional Code of Ethics.
21. To put away all stocks of Enteral feeds, Renal / CAPD, Diabetes, including stock rotation, pick & pack & deliver orders received from local stock.
22. Access Trust systems including Email and computer drives to access and retrieve applicable communications / documents required for action
23. Provide cover for PPE Operative role as required
