A leading recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Rail Port Operative to work at a busy freight terminal in Northamptonshire. The position involves operating heavy machinery, including a Shunt Locomotive and Intermodal Reach stackers, and requires adherence to strict health and safety regulations. Successful candidates will possess relevant licenses and skills, along with a flexible approach to shift work. This is a temporary to permanent position that offers competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

  • Experience in operating heavy machinery, specifically Intermodal Reach stackers.
  • Proven ability to adhere to health & safety procedures.
  • Competency in train preparation and shunting duties.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Shunt Locomotive.
  • Operate 90-ton Intermodal Reach stacker (Container Handler).
  • Ensure H&S procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Liaise with Traffic Office for efficient vehicle handling.
  • Complete stock integrity checks and associated data input.
  • Perform Train‑Shunting Duties.
  • Conduct Arrival, Pre‑Departure & Final Train Checks.

Skills

Certificate of competency in carriage & wagon examination
Trained in sh Elements train preparation

We are currently recruiting for a Rail Port Oper句话 for our client in Northamptonshire.

About our client: Our client provides supply chain management, storage, distribution and related services to a number of major customers and is the operator of major rail freight terminals.

We are seeking an experienced and competent Rail Port Operative. This role involves working rotating shifts across 5 days out of 7 and will require a degree of flexibility to support the operational demands of a busy rail freight terminal. This is an exciting opportunity to join a very successful and well‑known business. The role is ideally suited to an individual with a keen interest in transport and distribution who can demonstrate a proven record of effective and efficient transport planning within a national busy fleet operation.

Shift & Pay Details
  • Salary: £15 per hour (dependent on experience)
  • Working Hours: Mixture of days and nights
  • Location: NN6, Northamptonshire
  • Duration: 13 weeks temp to perm
Key Responsibilities
  • Driving Shunt Locomotive
  • Operating 90-ton Intermodal Reach stacker (Container Handler)
  • Ensuring H&S procedures are adhered to at all times
