Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking a Rail Systems Lead Design Manager to join the HS2 Track infrastructure project at the initial design phase. You will lead spatial coordination, manage interfaces across track systems, main works contractors and alliance members, and drive design governance across the programme.

The role emphasizes collaboration, design assurance, and health and safety in design, with positions based in London or Birmingham and a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and delivering

Qualifications

• > Extensive experience in rail systems design, integration and coordination.
• - Experience in contractor-led/alliances delivery environments.
• - Experience in large-scale rail infra programmes.
• - Managing external design organisations and consultants.
• - Strong design management processes knowledge.
• - Experience with design interfaces and spatial coordination.
• - Knowledge of technical/safety assurance.
• - Understanding Health and Safety in Design requirements.
• - Excellent stakeholder management and communication.
• - Able to lead multidisciplinary teams and handle complex issues.
• - Prior similar-role experience with aligned responsibilites.

Responsibilities

• > Systems Integration & Design management across the rail systems scope.
• - Coordinate interfaces between track systems, contractors and partners.
• - Support integration of multidisciplinary design deliverables.
• - Facilitate engineering governance and design assurance activities.
• - Lead spatial coordination and resolve design clashes.
• - Chair design coordination meetings and monitor progress.
• - Promote Health and Safety in Design and CDM compliance.
• - Manage safety requirements and system safety activities.
