Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking a Rail Systems Lead Design Manager to join the HS2 Track infrastructure project at the initial design phase, coordinating interfaces between track systems, main works contractors, design partners and alliance members to drive integrated delivery and robust design assurance across the programme.

This role can be based out of project offices in London, Euston or Birmingham, Snow Hill, and requires leading multidisciplinary teams, chairing design coordination meetings,

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in rail systems design, integration and coordination.
• Experience in contractor-led or alliance delivery environments.
• Experience managing external design organisations and consultant teams.
• Strong understanding of design management, systems engineering and safety assurance.
• Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering; Chartered status or working towards.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex issues.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate technical interfaces between track systems and alliance members.
• Lead spatial coordination of rail systems designs across partners.
• Chair design coordination meetings, workshops and reviews with stakeholders.
• Monitor design progress and ensure delivery aligns with client requirements and milestones.
• Coordinate and promote Health and Safety in Design across disciplines.
• Support design governance and assurance activities across the Alliance.
