Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Rail Systems Lead Design Manager to join the HS2 Track infrastructure project, based at London, Euston or Birmingham. You will coordinate interfaces between track systems, design partners and alliance members, while guiding spatial coordination and design assurance across the program.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage external design organisations, and ensure design governance and safety assurance align with client standards and milestones.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in rail systems design, integration and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Experience in contractor-led, design-and-build or alliance delivery environments.
• Experience on large-scale rail infrastructure programmes.
• Experience managing external design organisations and consultant teams.
• Strong understanding of design management processes within major rail or infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of technical assurance, systems engineering and safety assurance principles.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate technical interfaces between Track systems, Main Works Contractors, Design Partners and Alliance members.
• Lead spatial coordination of rail systems designs and ensure robust design coordination processes.
• Chair and facilitate design coordination meetings, workshops and reviews with stakeholders.
• Coordinate technical assurance activities related to spatial coordination and integrated design delivery.
• Promote Health and Safety in Design principles across all rail systems disciplines.
• Support Client with Principal Designer duties and ensure compliance with CDM requirements.
