Job description

To work in all general areas of the department on a rotational basis, working within set clinical protocols and IRMER regulations ensuring a high‑quality and efficient Radiographic Service. To ensure consistency of medical imaging quality and standards of patient care in a wide range of clinical environments as well as to a diverse range of patient presentations.

St Helier Hospital has three CT scanners and two MRI scanners; Epsom has two CT scanners and two MRI scanners, as well as US and DEXA equipment for all age groups, and a Paediatric service at St Helier for x‑ray and dental x‑ray. We also have very successful Nuclear Medicine, Fluoroscopy and Interventional Radiology services.

We encourage applications from newly qualified radiographers, more experienced radiographers and students about to qualify.

As a department we provide excellent opportunities for staff to develop their careers. Our department supports advanced practice, offering an established ultrasound training programme alongside radiographers trained in reporting. We are a teaching hospital and clinical placement centre for undergraduate students from Kingston University and all radiographers are expected to contribute to the training of students.

There is a 24‑hour Accident & Emergency department at both St Helier and Epsom sites. You will be required to take part in the out‑of‑hours on‑call service and extended days, evenings and weekends to ensure we provide consistent care through 7‑day working.

St George's, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George's Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).

After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education and training of our 17,000‑strong workforce.
