Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a radiation protection technician. The department provides Radiation Protection, Medical Physics and Radiology Physics services to the MSE Trusts across Essex (including Southend, Basildon and Broomfield hospitals) and some private sites. The role involves supporting departments using X-rays to achieve compliance with Radiation Safety legislation (IRR17 and IR(ME)R17) and maintaining good radiation safety practice. The position primarily carries out X-ray equipment checks (including quality assurance assessments and optimisation) and also involves patient radiation dose assessments; audits under relevant legislation; provision and updating of Local Rules; and running training courses.
You will be expected to deliver quality control tests on a range of X-ray equipment at multiple sites. A full clean driving licence is required and use of a car is preferred, though a Trust vehicle is available.

To provide support to the radiation protection team and the MSE in terms of a radiation protection technician. The duties vary as the work of the department is quite varied. Experience of working with X-rays or similar is highly beneficial. Radiographers are welcome to apply, but please note this is not a radiographer role.
