Job summary

Barratt Redrow PLC in the United Kingdom is seeking a diligent Quantity Surveyor to oversee site-based commercial and surveying responsibilities. You will manage costs, track budgets and valuations, and ensure targets are met while liaising with subcontractors.

Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager, you will contribute to cost-saving measures, value engineer trades, and prepare tender and procurement documents.

Qualifications

• HCND level or higher with CSCS card.
• Strong understanding of current market conditions and rates.
• Ability to control costs and valuations with live tracking.
• Highly numerate with attention to detail for budgets and valuations.
• Methodical, organised and delivery focused.
• Strong IT skills in commercial software and systems.
• Clear communication and stakeholder management.
• Experience in the house-building industry.
• Knowledge of Building Regulations and NHBC standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cost control procedures in line with Group policies.
• Compile weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as required.
• Update estimated final costs and perform cost/value reconciliations.
• Manage subcontractor procedures and procurement processes.
• Value engineer all trades to achieve best value.
• Prepare Site Start budgets and coordinate with departments.
• Lead value engineering and site review updates.
• Maintain budget control and manage cost overruns.
• Prepare accurate costing for site development elements.
• Analyze costs and cash flow using available systems.
• Prepare tenders and procure subcontractors and materials.
• Process subcontract orders, payments and variations.
• Attend project and team meetings and present the commercial position.
• Ensure compliance with Group IT and procedures.
