Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline; RICS accreditation desirable.
  • Strong experience within social housing refurbishment, maintenance, or new build.
  • Solid working knowledge of JCT, NEC, PPC or other relevant contract forms.
  • Proficient IT skills including MS Office and cost management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all commercial aspects of housing contracts from tender stage to final account.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, cost forecasts, and cashflow projections.
  • Lead submission of valuations, variations, and applications.
  • Administer contracts ensuring compliance with obligations.
  • Produce accurate financial and commercial reports for stakeholders.
  • Negotiate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement and payments.
  • Support compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Mentor and guide surveyors and assistant QS team members.

Elton Recruitment is supporting a leading UK contractor within the real estate / housing sector. Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team in West London.

This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality maintenance, refurbishment, energy efficiency, and improvement programmes for housing providers. You will take ownership of commercial management across varied projects, ensuring strong cost control, contractual compliance, and excellent value for money. It is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all commercial aspects of housing contracts from tender stage through to final account.
  • Prepare, monitor, and manage budgets, cost forecasts, and cashflow projections.
  • Lead the submission of valuations, variations, interim applications, and claims.
  • Administer contracts (JCT, NEC or similar), ensuring full compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Produce accurate, timely financial and commercial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Negotiate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and performance reviews.
  • Support compliance with regulatory, health & safety, and sustainability standards.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to surveyors and assistant QS team members.
  • Work collaboratively with operations, design, and client teams to drive successful project delivery.
Skills & Experience
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (RICS accreditation desirable).
  • Strong experience within social housing planned works, refurbishment, maintenance, or new build.
  • Solid working knowledge of JCT, NEC, PPC or other relevant contract forms.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to analyse financial data confidently.
  • Proficient IT skills including MS Office and cost management systems.
  • Ability to lead, influence, and mentor junior commercial staff.
