Salary: £40-£60k per annum (depending on experience), plus pension and company benefits

The Opportunity

A small bespoke construction property company is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to support the Commercial Manager overseeing two live residential projects and working on pre-construction for up-and-coming schemes in the pipeline. This is an office-based role with weekly visits to sites in North Devon. Consisting of a 100-unit water fronted development and the private sale of apartments in a listed building.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial management of major subcontract packages (e.g. M&E, façade, groundworks, structural frame)
  • Preparation and management of tender processes for allocated packages
  • Subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and contract administration
  • Valuations, variations, and change management
  • Accurate cost reporting and forecasting, supporting monthly CVRs
  • Management of interim payments and final accounts
  • Ensuring contractual compliance and managing risk and opportunity within packages
  • Supporting the Commercial Manager in all day-to-day commercial functions
  • Contributing to cost control, reporting systems, and overall project delivery efficiency
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor working on residential new build or refurbishment projects for a small to medium sized contractor or residential developer.
  • Demonstrable experience managing subcontract packages end-to-end
  • Strong knowledge of the residential sector
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and reporting skills
  • Degree-qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
