Qualifications

Quality Technician / Quality Engineer - Portadown (Manufacturing / Aerospace)

Client

VANRATH are partnering with a leading precision engineering manufacturer who supply into high-spec aerospace and advanced manufacturing sectors. Due to continued growth, they are now recruiting a Quality Technician / Quality Engineer with a strong focus on inspection and aerospace quality standards to support Quality Management and drive continuous improvement within production.

The Ideal Person

Essential:

  • Previous experience in engineering manufacturing (precision, aerospace, CNC, fabrication or similar)
  • Hands-on experience of inspection activities within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret complex aerospace/engineering drawings (GD&T advantageous)
  • Experience with metrology tools (calipers / micrometers / height gauges / plug gauges etc)
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Production, Quality and Engineering teams
  • Experience within a dedicated Quality / Inspection role (PPAP / FAIR / NCR / Root Cause etc)
  • Exposure to aerospace quality standards e.g. AS9100 / AS9102

Desirable:

  • Six Sigma green belt
  • Degree / HNC / HND in Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience working within a high-precision / tight-tolerance environment
  • Understanding of industry measuring principles (GD&T, SPC, MSA)
Responsibilities
  • Support Quality Manager in audit activity and continuous improvement of the QMS
  • Carry out internal audits and assist with customer / supplier / AS9100 audits
  • Perform and support inspection activities including dimensional checks, FAIRs and documentation
  • Support PPAP activities (MSA, SPC, PFMEA, PCP, FAIR)
  • Manage NCRs, root cause analysis and corrective actions (8D / 5 Whys / A3)
  • Support reduction of scrap, rework and non-value add activity through robust inspection feedback
  • Support supplier quality investigations and drive zero defect improvements
  • Assist with quality reporting, KPI tracking and MRB activities
