Job summary

A global company in steel wire transformation is seeking a dedicated individual for a key role focused on troubleshooting, inspecting, and documenting quality standards on the shop floor. The successful candidate will work on a rotating shift basis and must possess a Technical Diploma in a relevant field. Responsibilities include resolving production issues, ensuring quality through inspections, and participating in audits. The position is integral to maintaining operational efficiency and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Identify, resolve and document issues within the production process.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of products on the shop floor.
  • Accurately document findings and observations from shop floor inspections.
  • Analyse and identify discrepancies between actual shop floor operations and SOPs.
  • Assist in deriving and documenting process specifications.
  • Participate in GEMBA and BMS audits on the shop floor.
  • Proactively highlight and elevate issues to management.
  • Inspect process parts and coordinate maintenance for replacements.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Follow up on the effectiveness of corrective action plans.

Purpose of the Job

Responsible for troubleshooting, conducting inspections, documenting findings, and ensuring alignment between shop floor operations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role also involves supporting the derivation of process specifications, participating in shop floor audits, and checking of equipment through inspection and replacement of parts. This position will require working on a rotating shift basis to cover different hours of operation.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • 1. Troubleshooting: Identify, resolve and document issues within the production process to minimize downtime and ensure quality standards are met.
  • 2. Inspection of Product on Shop Floor: Conduct thorough inspections of products on the shop floor to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • 3. Documenting Findings: Accurately document findings and observations from shop floor inspections and audits to maintain records and inform process improvements.
  • 4. Identifying Gaps Between Shop Floor and SOPs: Analyse and identify discrepancies between actual shop floor operations and documented SOPs, and propose corrective actions.
  • 5. Supporting Process Specifications: Assist in deriving and documenting process specifications to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
  • 6. Conducting GEMBA and BMS Audits: Participate in GEMBA and Bekaert Manufacturing System (BMS) audits on the shop floor to ensure adherence to quality standards and continuous improvement.
  • 7. Highlighting and Escalating Issues: Proactively highlight and elevate issues to the appropriate personnel or next level of management to ensure prompt resolution.
  • 8. Inspection of Process Parts: Inspect process parts such as rollers, dies, and heads, and coordinate with the maintenance team for the replacement of worn or defective parts.
  • 9. Adhere to company policy: Ensure that all company policies and procedures (including health, safety and environmental) are personally adhered to, taking a ‘no walk past’ approach.
  • 10. Small Improvement: Follow up on the effectiveness of corrective action plans & use of tools such as Kaizen.
Qualifications and Skills
