Job description
Overview

We seek an experienced Quality Inspector for our busy manufacturing facility in Lancing. You will join a team who work on a rotation basis (6.55 to 14:55 and 14:45 to 22:45). The successful candidate must be able to rotate with the shift pattern.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Quality department and production team in the day-to-day operation of the facility and production plan, ensuring tasks are completed within allocated timescales and that work is planned to best utilise capacity.
  • Maintain the quality systems throughout the factory operations to ensure the highest standards of product quality are maintained.
  • Regularly update the quality department on pending actions, completed projects or any quality-related production issues.
  • Perform daily compliance patrol inspections in the machine shop and sub-assembly areas to ensure products are manufactured to the required quality standard, and the latest documentation is being used.
  • Perform first-off inspections as required.
  • Conduct goods-in inspection as required.
  • Perform end-of-line random checks of product, packaging, labeling and quantity (weight).
  • Report non-conformances found using the compliance system of reporting.
  • Conduct metrology checks as required using the CMM equipment and hand measurement tools.
  • Ensure quality alerts are kept up to date and adhered to before and during product manufacture.
  • Liaise with production on any quality issues that arise and agree actions to improve, maintaining records outlining decisions and agreed actions.
  • Support quarantine control, ensure parts are labelled and registers are kept up to date.
  • Ensure 6S and housekeeping are maintained within each operator/machine area.
  • Undertake projects as requested and any other associated tasks that are deemed reasonable.
Requirements

We are looking for someone who has worked in a similar role and has a passion for developing the highest standards of manufactured product possible. While our client does not require you to have worked in the same sector, a quality background is essential.

Desirable
  • Knowledge of quality testing methods
  • Knowledge of injection moulding techniques
  • Knowledge of identifying moulded product faults
  • Ability to write simple reports
  • Experience using inspection measuring equipment
  • Experience using CMM measuring equipment
Skills/Abilities
  • Good level of IT skills (experience in using Microsoft, Excel, Outlook, and Word)
  • Good level of work accuracy
  • Ability to complete tasks against tight deadlines
  • Understanding of product testing methods
