Job description

Jackson Hogg are proudly supporting a specialist manufacturing business in the County Durham area on a Quality Engineer position reporting into the Quality Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives across internal workflows, supporting the qualification and monitoring of suppliers, and contributing to the development and enforcement of robust quality systems. Experience in quality engineering and supplier management is essential for this position.

Quality Engineer Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and approve new suppliers through audits, assessments, and capability studies.
  • Partner with sourcing and engineering teams to qualify new materials, components, and processes
  • Provide training and guidance to suppliers on quality expectations and standards.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with industry standards
  • Develop and maintain supplier quality agreements and performance metrics
  • Perform risk assessments for critical suppliers and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action (8D, 5-Why, FMEA) for supplier-related issues.
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive improvement plans to meet KPIs.
  • Implement statistical process control (SPC) and advanced quality planning (APQP) methodologies.
  • Work closely with design, process, and manufacturing engineering teams to resolve supplier quality concerns.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) by ensuring supplier readiness and process robustness.
  • Act as the key liaison between internal stakeholders and suppliers to align on quality expectations.
