Reporting to: Head of Supply Chain

Responsibilities
  • Leading the procurement of raw materials, goods, and services, ensuring compliance with quality, cost, and lead-time requirements.
  • Overseeing inbound logistics; including negotiation and management of freight providers etc.
  • Managing supplier performance measurement and improvement plans.
  • Direct stock management/MRP planning to optimise inventory levels and support production.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant trade and customs regulations for inbound shipments.
  • Driving improvements in the forecasting process that benefit the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the Purchasing Department.
  • Place and track purchase orders with CS (India).
  • Confirming deliveries, schedules, and supply requirements for CS in India.
  • Providing accurate data for quarterly business reviews.
  • Monitoring supplier performance and escalating issues as required.
  • Ensuring all purchasing activity meets quality, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Translating departmental strategy into clear procurement and inbound logistics plans and objectives.
  • Implementing processes and reporting mechanisms that track delivery of departmental initiatives (KPI's).
  • Identifying market trends, supply chain risks, and opportunities to improve competitiveness.
  • Ensuring sourcing strategies incorporate contingency planning to maintain business continuity.
  • Developing and maintaining strong partnerships with strategic suppliers to secure quality and supply reliability.
  • Representing the company in supplier negotiations, ensuring competitive cost, quality, and terms.
  • Building collaborative relationships with internal departments to align supply with operational and strategic needs.
  • Playing a key supporting role in developing the toll manufacture relationship with CS to meet the Company's needs.
  • Collaborating with internal teams (e.g., Commercial, Production, QC, Quality and Finance) to align purchasing and logistics with operational needs.
Person
  • Will have proved procurement and inbound logistics management experience within a manufacturing setting.
  • Proven track record in supplier relationship management, negotiation, and contract management.
  • Knowledge of MRP systems and inventory optimisation.
  • Strong understanding of international trade compliance and inbound freight processes.
  • Demonstrable leadership and team management capability.
  • Experience managing budgets, cost control, and procurement KPIs.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to optimise supply chain efficiency.
  • Ability to implement continuous improvement initiatives within procurement and logistics processes.
  • The ideal applicant will have worked in a Chemical manufacturing setting (COMAH knowledge), not essential but preferred.
  • The ideal applicant will have experience in risk management too (again not essential).
