Job description
Public Protection Team Manager

We are passionate about improving the lives and living standards of all our residents and visitors and protecting the public and environment from harm. This role represents an exciting opportunity for a talented manager to lead and develop all the functions within the Public Protection Service in accordance with statutory requirements as well as in keeping with council policies and objectives.

This is a new role bringing environmental protection and environmental health services together for the first time so this will be a real opportunity for you to make a meaningful impact across the district. The job pack provides greater detail regarding the areas of responsibility, and the role also has a particular responsibility for private sector housing, Port Health at East Midlands Airport and events such as Download.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop all functions within the Public Protection Service in accordance with statutory requirements and council policies.
  • Oversee the integration of environmental protection and environmental health services.
  • Manage responsibilities for private sector housing, Port Health at East Midlands Airport and events such as Download.
Working Arrangements and Benefits
  • 36.25 hrs per week
  • Salary Band I £52,413 – £56,687 per annum
  • Agile working scheme with a combination of home and office working (based at Whitwick Business Centre, Coalville)
  • 34 days holiday (including bank holidays) increasing to 38 days after 5 years Local Government service
  • Attractive Local Government Pension Scheme with at least 22% employer’s contribution
