Job Title: Public Cloud Senior Software Engineer

Location: Manchester

Hours: Full-time

Working Pattern: Hybrid – spend at least two days per week (or 40% of your time) at the location above.

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll join a collaborative, agile, product-focused engineering team working at the heart of our Cloud Platform. You’ll contribute to designing, building and improving our cloud security and network products, as well as supporting the day-to-day operation of existing services.

Responsibilities
  • Write and review secure Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC)
  • Provide operational support for existing products, including incident management and customer requests
  • Develop and test new product features
  • Manage workload through Jira
  • Automate processes and leverage AI to drive efficiency and cost‑effectiveness
  • Identify opportunities for service and platform improvement
  • Support roadmap planning and contribute to product direction
  • Invest in your own development and continuous learning
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to an inclusive, learning‑oriented culture
  • Step in for the Lead Engineer when required
What You’ll Need

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll bring:

  • Deep expertise in at least one relevant product or technology area (e.g., Firewalls), and the ability to rapidly build capability in others
  • Strong understanding of secure-by-design principles and alignment to industry best practice
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to listen, challenge and collaborate effectively
  • The ability to work closely with product owners and teams to shape effective solutions
  • Awareness of technical constraints, bottlenecks and environmental factors — with the drive to resolve them quickly
  • Experience working within agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and automation
  • A passion for automating everything
  • Curiosity about emerging technology and a desire to continuously improve solutions and team capability
