Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Dewsbury is seeking a committed Psychologist for a part-time role (22.5 hours/week). The successful candidate will deliver treatments and oversee therapy sessions for clients with severe mental health conditions. The position offers a salary of £40,000 pro rata, along with 25 days annual leave and a Group Personal Pension Plan. Candidates must hold relevant qualifications and HCPC registration.

Job description

An amazing job opportunity has arisen for a committed Psychologist to work in an exceptional hospital setting based in the Dewsbury, West Yorkshire area. You will be working for one of the UK’s leading health care providers.

This hospital provides a specialist inpatient service for adults and older age males with severe and enduring mental health conditions, who may also have an undiagnosed memory related illness. Our client also provides a specialist neuro‑cognitive and dementia care service for males presenting with very agitated or aggressive behaviour.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position you must hold a relevant qualification in Psychology and be registered with the HCPC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and deliver appropriate and relevant treatments and interventions within the given field of therapy, in order to promote and develop the mental, emotional, physical and social well‑being of clients; liaising with family and carers.
  • Receive and respond promptly to referrals undertaking assessments to determine and plan an effective therapy programme for assigned clients using appropriate and relevant treatments, activities and interventions.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions within the given field of therapy ensuring activities and interventions continue to meet the needs of the client, and are consistent with the provisions detailed in the client’s therapy plan.
  • Manage an assigned caseload within agreed timescales ensuring regular interaction and communication with clients, professional colleagues and clinical staff.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records in the form of case notes, case files, clinical reports, computerised information systems and other associated documentation presenting and sharing relevant information and knowledge concerning assigned clients with professional and clinical colleagues at regular MDT meetings.
  • Lead and co‑coordinate professional and clinical colleagues, providing psychotherapeutic advice and guidance, and assist with the analysis of statistical data and information for research and audit purposes.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Have Chartered Psychologist status and appropriate post‑graduate qualifications.
  • Be an approved supervisor within the guidelines of the BPS and relevant division.
  • Have an understanding of evidence‑based psychological practice.
  • Have experience of applying psychological knowledge to a clinical setting.
  • Be experienced working with clients with cognitive deficits.
  • Have previous experience of conducting research and project work.
