Job summary

A faith-based organization in the United Kingdom is looking for a Service Musician to coordinate music for worship services. The candidate must have at least two years of experience in a Church choir, be proficient in singing while playing an instrument, and be skilled in leading a contemporary praise band. This part-time position runs under a 1099 contractor agreement, and compensation will be based on budget and previous experience. Job description

The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following :

Contract Title: Service Musician (RAFM- Protestant Community)

Scope of Responsibilities
  • 3.1. The contractor shall plan and coordinate music with the Protestant Music Director and Chaplain in charge of the service.
  • 3.2. Arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the start of each service to oversee setup and depart after all service clean-up has been accomplished.
  • 3.3. Perform one (1) rehearsal per week and as needed for special worship services.
  • 3.4. The length of rehearsals shall be a minimum of one (1) hour and not to exceed three (3) hours.
  • 3.5. All dates and times for rehearsals shall be coordinated with the chaplain assigned to the service and / or Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) Resource Management including special and holiday event services.
  • 3.6. Coordinate with the chapel official for acquiring new music equipment repairs / servicing and other supplies. Submit requests for music supplies (i.e. scores song sheets folders etc.) in writing to the Account Manager to ensure supplies are received in a timely manner (generally at least 60 days in advance).
  • 3.7. Comply with all applicable Air Force and local instructions for financial management and accounting facility use maintenance and security all of which are available in the chapel contractor continuity binder.
  • 3.8. The contractor shall be accountable for paying all applicable Social Security payments Federal or Local Income Taxes and State Unemployment Insurance premiums for themselves as well as any subcontracted personnel.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • 2.1. Two (2) professional letters of reference from former employer(s) and / or leader of churches / chapels in which work has been performed with contact details.
  • 2.2. Have two (2) years experience as part of a Church or Chapel praise and worship team.
  • 2.3. Shall be proficient in singing while playing an instrument (i.e. guitar piano keyboard) conducive for leading a contemporary style worship service.
  • 2.4. Shall have musical proficiency to direct a volunteer contemporary praise band for the express purpose of congregational singing of hymns and praise songs.
  • 2.5. Shall be willing to work with chapel staff personnel and program volunteers of all religious backgrounds and faith beliefs.
  • 2.6. Shall possess a knowledge of Protestant teachings customs and traditions.
  • 2.7. Shall be proficient with current contemporary praise and worship songs defined as the Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) SongSelect Top 100 songs.
  • 2.8. Shall be able to read write and speak English fluently.
  • 2.9. Shall have access to the internet and a computer. The contractor will not be provided with access to government computers.
  • 2.10. Shall be able to use related computer software applications including Microsoft PowerPoint and Internet Explorer.
  • 2.11. Shall be required to satisfactorily complete a background check IAW DoDI 1402.5 Criminal Background History Check.
