Job description

The Property Technology team is responsible for the design and governance of technology within buildings, the successful implementation of these systems during development and the subsequent effective management of them during operations. This includes the day to day running of the underlying systems and the digital smart solutions that sit above these to optimise building efficiency and tenant engagement.

The Property Technology Programme Manager is responsible for driving the roadmap of strategic delivery across the various workstreams, ensuring all budget, compliance and legal frameworks are in place for successful project delivery. This role has a cross‑functional remit across IT Architecture, Property Network Services, Building Systems, and wider property technology team, ensuring alignment of digital strategies with infrastructure, operational systems and building services. The role engages with senior‑level British Land and occupier stakeholders to articulate the vision of the strategy, communicating clearly to enable quicker adoption and long‑term value creation. Additionally, the role oversees the delivery of smart, ICT and property technology solutions across the various stages of asset development, engaging with internal and external stakeholders to ensure standardised delivery across RIBA stages 2 to 6. Experience in programme and project management and delivery is essential, ideally within the Real Estate sector. The candidate is expected to be knowledgeable about operational systems within buildings, the development lifecycle, digital strategy, smart buildings, the Internet of Things and engagement platforms. An industry awareness of emerging Prop Tech trends is also essential.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee delivery of property technology initiatives across smart buildings, engagement platforms, IT architecture, M&E systems, and related domains.
  • Maintain and evolve the Prop Tech roadmap to reflect stakeholder needs (Marketing, Asset Management, Leasing, Development) and business priorities.
  • Ensure programmes and projects meet objectives on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.
  • Ensure prop tech standards are communicated to Development in a timely manner, aligned with the RIBA stages.
  • Support governance and reporting processes, ensuring alignment across technology architecture, building systems, and property technology.
  • Present quarterly steering committees, where required, and contribute to broader technology governance forums.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to understand objectives, constraints, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Architecture, Property Network Services, Building Systems, Infosec, Development, and Property Management teams to deliver secure, supportable solutions.
  • Liaise with PMO, Project Managers and delivery partners to ensure adherence to governance, technical standards, and operational requirements.
  • Engage with occupiers on system and solution deployment where applicable.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
  • Identify and address inefficiencies, driving automation and process improvements across property technology.
  • Provide guidance on emerging technologies that align with operational and business needs.

  • Problem‑Solving & Analytical Skills: Structured approach to problem‑solving; numerate and capable of supporting quantitative analysis.
  • Governance & Risk Management: Experience with programme governance, risk identification, and compliance.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work autonomously and as part of cross‑functional teams.
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to high‑quality deliverables.
  • Change Management: Ability to drive adoption of new technologies and processes.

  • Digital Transformation Experience: Developing strategies and solutioning for digital initiatives.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with IT architecture principles, enterprise platforms, and integration of building systems.
