Job description

On behalf of our client we are looking to recruit into the firm’s busy and expanding Rural Property team, providing a bespoke service across the South West, tailored to meet the individual needs of clients.

This well-respected team of experienced lawyers prides itself on delivering a high standard of service, combining a traditional personal approach with efficiency and modern technology. A significant proportion of work comes from recommendations and longstanding relationships with clients, land agents, and estate agents.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will act for clients in a wide variety of rural property matters, including:

  • Sales, purchases, and mortgages of rural properties such as manor houses, farms, woodlands, holiday letting businesses, and nature reserves
  • Residential conveyancing of higher-value properties
  • Overage and promotion agreements
  • Easements and sporting rights

The role offers a diverse and engaging caseload, with mentoring and supervision to develop independent case management skills. The candidate will also be encouraged to take part in firm-wide marketing initiatives and to build and maintain strong client and referrer relationships.

Requirements:
  • NQ to 2 years’ PQE Solicitor, FCILEx, or Licensed Conveyancer with experience in property work (residential or commercial)
  • Consideration will also be given to experienced property paralegals with demonstrable ambition to qualify
  • Personable, driven, and enthusiastic, with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team, while also demonstrating independence when required

This position will be based primarily in the Exeter office, with some flexibility for hybrid working. Initially, office-based training will be provided to familiarise the candidate with the team, caseload, and available support.
