A leading energy infrastructure company in the United Kingdom is looking for a project manager to oversee the development and delivery of electricity transmission projects. This role involves ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, managing site activities, and coordinating with contractors. Candidates should have project management skills, a background in construction, and relevant qualifications such as SSSTS or NEBOSH. A competitive salary, benefits, and a strong commitment to diversity are offered.
As owners of Wales and England’s electricity transmission network we are responsible for the decarbonisation of the energy system. This is an essential part of the country’s Net Zero journey, and in order to make it happen we need to successfully deliver a portfolio of new, green, infrastructure projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in developing the electricity network so that we can connect and transport more renewable and low carbon energy to our homes and businesses, to enable the UK to meet its climate, energy security commitments and net zero target.
You’ll be National Grid’s representative working as part of the Infrastructure Development & Delivery (ID&D) team, working on projects around the country, which includes development and delivery works associated with Substation works and OHL refurbishment works and other associated works within the ID & D portfolio. Essentially, you’ll ensure all site‑based construction activities delivered by our principal contractors are efficiently managed in accordance with National Grid policies and procedures. You’ll administer the duties of ‘Client representative’ with a keen eye on safety, environmental, sustainability and the quality of the installation.
You’ll also be required to support NG site teams to ensure CDM regs are met, provide support when ordering plant and equipment, undertake regular safety audits/walks and hold coordination meetings with all parties on site during project delivery. In addition, you’ll complete ‘Site Visit Reports’ or facilitate site visits with designers.
This role covers projects in the Central region with travel to sites and the ability to stay away essential. You will ideally be based in the Midlands area.
This role closes at midnight on 15th December 2025, however we encourage candidates to submit their application as early as possible and not wait until the published closing date as this can vary.
At National Grid, we are committed to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace for everyone. So if you are excited about this role but your experience or qualifications do not match the job description exactly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might just be the right person for our growing business in this role or another one.
