Freelance Project / Groundworks Site Manager

Location: Bedlington, Northumberland
Project: Roads & Sewers - Residential Housing Scheme
Contract Type: Freelance

We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Project / Groundworks Site Manager to oversee a roads and sewers package on a residential housing development in Bedlington.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Day-to-day management of groundworks operations, specifically roads, sewers, and associated infrastructure
  • Managing subcontractors, plant, and labour on site
  • Ensuring works are delivered on programme, within budget, and to specification
  • Maintaining high standards of health & safety, quality, and compliance
  • Liaising with the client, engineers, local authorities, and utility providers
  • Coordinating inspections and ensuring works meet adoptable standards
  • Reporting progress and resolving site issues proactively
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager or Project Manager on groundworks / civil engineering residential schemes
  • Strong background in roads & sewers
  • SMSTS, CSCS (Gold or Black), and First Aid certificates (essential)
  • Ability to manage multiple trades and maintain programme targets
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Freelance availability and right to work in the UK
