A public service organization in the United Kingdom is seeking a Project Officer to oversee projects related to children’s social care reforms. This pivotal role involves planning and delivering projects, collaborating with partners, and ensuring effective governance. The successful candidate will manage project timelines and reporting while contributing to government returns and improvement actions. This position offers a full-time, hybrid working arrangement with three office days per week.
My client isentering the next phase of its improvement journey and is expanding its transformation programme to ensure consistently high-quality practice and support for children and families. A major focus is the implementation of national Children’s Social Care Reforms, including developments in Family Help, Multi-Agency Child Protection Teams, and family-led decision-making.
As Project Officer, you will play a pivotal role in driving and overseeing a portfolio of projects that directly contribute to these reforms and the wider improvement plan. You will ensure objectives are clearly defined, timelines are met, and project governance is robust and effective.
This is a full-time role with hybrid working. Attendance in the office is expected three days per week.
Lead the planning, development, and delivery of projects aligned to the Improvement Plan and Children’s Social Care Reforms
Work collaboratively with service areas and partners to develop strong, evidence-based business cases
Provide transparent and accurate project reporting to senior leaders
Contribute to statutory returns for government bodies, including the Department for Education
Manage invest-to-save projects, including feasibility assessments and reporting
Benchmark best practice from other local authorities and translate findings into improvement actions
Build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams and external partners
Oversee risk and issue management, ensuring mitigations are in place and escalations handled appropriately
Identify income-generation opportunities and prepare supporting proposals
Support inspection readiness and peer review activity across services
Undertake any additional work required to support improved outcomes for children, young people, and families
