Overview
This job is offered by Turner & Townsend in London. The Industrial, Sciences and Technology team is seeking Senior Project Managers to join the Data Centre team. As a Project Manager you support large-scale, ground-up data centre construction projects for prominent technology clients across Europe, from inception through to commissioning.
Key Accountabilities
Project Management, to include:
- Advising at a strategic level at the project conception stage, including advice on different approaches to achieve the client’s objectives;
- Leading the establishment of overall project success criteria (time, cost, technical and performance parameters);
- Planning and ongoing management of quality, safety, health and environment issues;
- Establishing effective project governance, processes and systems for the project;
- Project planning, including the production of the detailed project plan;
- Advising on procurement of resources;
- Leading and facilitating the cross-functional project team;
- Monitoring and applying performance management techniques, including KPIs to improve project performance;
- Managing the change control process;
- Monitoring and advising on project finances;
- Managing the flow of project information between the team and the client through regular meetings and written communications;
- Producing formal project progress and other reports;
- Interfacing with the client and other consultants at all project stages.
Internal management accountabilities:
- Staff management where appropriate
- Knowledge management – ensuring key information and learnings from each project are captured in the Turner & Townsend internal database
- Financial management – ensuring prompt client invoicing and monitoring a project’s financial status
- Process improvement – identifying and acting on ways to improve internal systems and processes
Qualifications
- Construction consultancy experience strongly preferred
- 3-5 years of project management experience, preferably within digital/data centre environments
- Professionally qualified in construction, project management, engineering or architecture
- Chartered status or on the path to achieving it
- Understanding of the full project life cycle from conception to post-project review
- Knowledge of main project management concepts, tools and techniques
- Design, management or construction experience in general construction environments (ideally residential, office, fit-outs and health & education)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
