A top investment bank in London is seeking an experienced professional to lead the operational build of a new physical metals trading business. The role involves designing and implementing processes and controls and requires strong knowledge of commodities trading and operational risk. Qualifications

  • Experience in physical commodities trading, precious metals, or commodities operations.
  • Demonstrated success in building new processes and controls from scratch in a financial institution.
  • Ability to navigate a matrixed, global environment and drive progress independently.
  • Strong understanding of operational risk, regulatory requirements, and settlement processes.

Job description

We’re working with a leading global investment bank exploring the build-out of a physical metals trading business. To support this initiative, we're looking to bring in an experienced professional, who has hands-on experience designing and implementing processes and controls - particularly within commodities, physical trading, or post-trade operations. Your role will be to lead the initial operational build, define what’s needed, and implement sustainable and scalable processes, infrastructure, and controls to support growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement the end-to-end operational process for physical metals
  • Establish controls, governance, and settlement processes in line with regulatory and internal requirements
  • Liaise with front office, risk, legal, compliance, and technology teams
  • Support onboarding of relevant infrastructure, systems, and third-party providers (e.g. vaulting, logistics)
  • Provide recommendations on operating models and potential future-state scaling
  • Experience in physical commodities trading, precious metals, or commodities operations
  • Demonstrated success in building new processes and controls from scratch in a financial institution
  • Ability to navigate a matrixed, global environment and drive progress independently
  • Strong understanding of operational risk, regulatory requirements, and settlement processes
