Job description

Project Manager – Permanent – Controls / Electrical / Instrumentation – Berkshire – £65-75k + hybrid working + bonus + 30 days annual leave + BUPA

+++Must have a British passport for security clearance+++

Ambitious, growing company is recruiting for a Degree qualified Project Manager to work in the defence sector with experience of delivering projects involving electrical, controls and instrumentation elements; delivering projects to NEC4 contracts whilst interfacing with multiple sub-contracting companies.

Key responsibilities of the Project Manager include:

  • Experience with NEC4 contracts, ideally from an EC&I background.
  • Ability to effectively manage third-party contractors and suppliers on site, demonstrating assertiveness when necessary. This role requires a seasoned Project Manager experienced in handling politics, pressure, and working towards project completion.
  • Coordinate and schedule multiple contractors working concurrently in one part of the plant, managing varying disciplines, time pressures, and personnel.
  • Deliver multiple systems onto the plant, including control systems and functional safety systems that control the process being set up.
  • Must be a British passport holder and have resided in the UK for at least the last 5 years to undergo security clearance.
  • Due to security clearance requirements, the Project Manager cannot hold dual nationality.
  • Comfortable working within the defence sector.
  • The management team promotes a healthy work-life balance, encouraging leaving the office by 4.30 pm daily, with 30 days holiday plus statutory holidays.
  • The role is initially based on-site near Reading (3 days/week) and remotely (2 days/week), increasing to 5 days/week on-site near Reading for 3-4 months from August/September.
  • Up to 10% bonus.
  • Includes private healthcare for employees and family members after 6 months of service.
  • Work from home two days a week (Mondays and Fridays).

The office/site is accessible from Newbury, Reading, Basingstoke, Basingstoke, and surrounding areas.
