A leading water utility company in the UK seeks an experienced Project Manager for a pioneering £120m Advanced Water Recycling project. Permanent, 37 Hours a week
Location: Anglian Water Region / Hybrid – you will be managing the early development of a project at Colchester so we would expect some travel to this site as well as our offices in Peterborough/Huntingdon for occasional meetings.
Anglian Water offers a flexible approach, this role provides you with hybrid working. Your base location will be at an office within the Anglian Water Region with the expectation of being in the office / onsite 1-2 days a week.

Are you an experienced Project Manager looking for your next big challenge? This is your opportunity to lead a first-of-its-kind Advanced Water Recycling (AWR) project for Anglian Water — a high-profile, innovative £120m scheme that will play a critical role in tackling future water shortages.
As identified in our draft Water Resources Management Plan 2024, the East of England faces a significant challenge: by 2050, we expect to have 38% less water available for our customers. One of the key solutions is the development of an AWR plant in Colchester — and we need a confident, driven Project Manager to make it a success.
You’ll join a newly established team dedicated to developing ground breaking major infrastructure projects, including desalination and water recycling. Reporting to the Senior Programme Manager, you’ll lead the early-stage development of the Colchester AWR scheme, steering it through design, procurement, planning, and governance, while ensuring delivery is on time, on budget, and to the highest quality.
As a Project Manager, you’ll play a central role in planning, managing, and developing this landmark project, including:
Leading the outline design and reference design phase
Ensuring site investigations /monitoring are carried out safely and within budget and programme
Developing the procurement strategy for the delivery phase and leading negotiations with the design & build contractor
Driving the planning and consenting activities
Overseeing the safe design, delivery, and testing of a demonstration plant, ensuring compliance with CDM
Developing project plans, schedules, and budgets with the PMO and commercial teams, while managing risks and opportunities
Collaborating with technical and environmental specialists to deliver high-quality work packages
Supporting stakeholder engagement and regulatory discussions alongside our dedicated Stakeholder team
Connecting with other Project Managers across major projects to share knowledge and support

Proven experience in project management within capital delivery or infrastructure.
Strong track record in managing budgets, programmes, and risks at early project stages.
Knowledge of NEC contracts and confidence working with consultants and contractors.
Knowledge and experience of CDM
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
