Overview

You will be working as Project Management Capability Lead in the Costain Digital function, and you will be responsible for the Integrity, Customer Focus, Safety & Wellbeing of the programme and project managers within the Digital function. This includes managing the capacity against demand (assignment, recruitment, and contract engagement), managing accreditation and promotional paths and being an escalation point. Within the role, you will liaise with project/programme managers, business analysts, delivery leads, business teams and senior business stakeholders all the way up to ExCo level. Your team will engage in a wide range of projects from Run the Business technical, through Transformational change to Client Engagements. To meet the demand, it will be important to build the teams capability both in accreditations, methodology use and business/ sector exposure.

Responsibilities
  • Developing and maintaining an in-depth understanding of the Digital services catalogue and PMO demand forecasts
  • Recruitment and retention focus with Digital values and behaviours
  • Maintain team common language in lifecycle in Agile, Hybrid and traditional methodologies adjusting with market maturity and best practice
  • Developing team and individual's capability and identifying training requirements, ensuring KPI's for Portfolio > Programme > Project transparency are secured and maintained
  • Developing and championing the team's acceptance of and compliance with toolsets use to ensure accuracy of activity data (from comments, RAG, resource capacity v demand to quality, cost and timescales) i.e. efficient data entry mechanisms, capture, surfacing to dashboards, helping create and embed best practice
  • Assisting in the continuous improvement cycle across Costain Digital and wider business in terms of processes, tools, configuration and KPI's
  • Ensure lessons learned are built into future change activities

  • Problem solver who is comfortable working with technology specialists and customer-focused and pragmatic in their approach to delivery
  • Passionate about improving performance in the sector through best practice, process improvements and continuous improvement practices
  • Strong understanding of how people go through a change, the impact of change and the change process
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy workload, balancing competing priorities and deadlines
  • Able to work and learn quickly in a fast paced, fun and dynamic environment
  • Care about doing a great job and exceeding expectations with the quality of what you do
  • Previous experience of people management on complex/sensitive programmes and have successfully impacted peers/others in order to gain buy-in to enable change to happen
  • Able to work in a matrix management environment
