Overview

The Health Innovation Network (HIN) South London supports the spread and adoption of innovation in health and care. Our Mental Health Programme is seeking an experienced project manager with the passion and drive to help South London’s health and care organisations deliver positive change through innovation. The successful candidate will lead key projects at the HIN, working closely with colleagues across NHS providers, commissioners, voluntary organisations, and private technology partners. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills and a proven record of delivering projects in health and/or social care. Strong project management, report writing, meeting facilitation, and contribution to bids or business cases are highly valued.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Understands challenges and opportunities in mental health across primary and secondary care, for children, young people, adults, and older adults.
  • Has a track record of leading projects and evaluating impact.
  • Works effectively in a team, balancing priorities across multiple projects.
  • Builds strong relationships with stakeholders across partner organisations.
  • Confidently facilitates groups of external stakeholders.
  • Brings experience in report writing, desktop research, and bid preparation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, delivery, and coordination of designated projects, ensuring effective implementation and reporting to the HIN executive and governance bodies.
  • Develop recommendations, secure support, implement and performance manage services to achieve best value and outcome-based results.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient project delivery.
  • Oversee improvement, performance management, and evaluation, including reporting against Programme/Network Strategic and Operational Plans.
  • Drive service improvement initiatives, developing proposals for pathways across primary, community, and acute services, aligned with related projects across South London.
  • Liaise with wider sector, regional, and national networks to share project learning and tools.
  • Represent the Programme at relevant meetings and events.
  • Apply service improvement methods within project and programme plans, ensuring robust monitoring and reporting.
  • Collaborate with systems and design teams on measurement and data modelling.
  • Work effectively with service users, clinicians, and managers to exchange information, influence change, and overcome barriers to understanding.

There are 15 Health Innovation Networks across England, created by NHS England in 2013 to spread innovation, improve health, and drive economic growth. HIN South London connects academics, NHS organisations, local authorities, patients, and industry to accelerate the adoption of innovation and best practice at scale. Acting as catalysts of change, we work across clinical and innovation themes such as diabetes, cardiometabolic disease, mental health, community care, social care, and digital health while supporting education. We also help innovators and companies realise the NHS’s economic potential. In line with adaptable working principles, staff may contribute across different projects and themes.
