PROJECT ENGINEER / ESTIMATOR

Electrical Contractor - Oxford

Salary: £55,000-£60,000 + Benefits

An established and respected electrical contractor based in Oxford is seeking a skilled Project Engineer / Estimator to join our growing team. This is a key position offering long-term stability, excellent career development, and the opportunity to take ownership of varied commercial, residential, and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and submit competitive tenders and quotations for works ranging from small refurbishments to £1m+
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications, carrying out accurate material take-offs and procurement
  • Lead projects from tender through to final account, ensuring quality, compliance, and client satisfaction
  • Utilise IT software for estimating, project planning, and reporting (Word, Excel, Project, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Liaise with clients, principal contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers to ensure best-value solutions
  • Attend design and progress meetings; prepare RFIs, method statements, and risk assessments
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with builders, consultants, and end-user clients
  • Manage multiple projects including new builds, refurbishments, and small works packages
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, legislation, and quality standards
About You
  • Time-served electrician with strong technical and practical knowledge
  • Proven experience in estimating and project management within an electrical contracting environment
  • Commercially aware with experience working under various contract forms
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational abilities
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively across project teams
  • Valid UK Driving Licence essential
  • NICEIC Qualifying Manager status or C&G 2391 desirable but not essential
